Dr. Oxana Ovakimyan is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She is also board certified in adult echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and vascular ultrasound interpretation.
Dr. Ovakimyan graduated from Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry and completed Internal Medicine residency in Moscow, Russia. She re-located to the US in 2011 and completed her 2nd Internal Medicine Residency at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ and Cardiovascular Fellowship at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ. After her fellowship, Dr. Ovakimyan went on to complete an advanced fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Brown University in Providence, RI.
Dr. Ovakimyan specializes in all aspects of cardiology, with a special focus in interventional cardiology. She performs cardiac and peripheral vascular catheterization and angioplasty/stenting. She has expertise in the management of complex coronary and peripheral arterial disease. She is especially passionate about women’s cardiovascular health.
She is licensed to practice medicine in NJ since 2015 and has privileges at Morristown Medical Center and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH)-Somerset, formerly known as the Somerset Medical Center.
Dr. Oxana Ovakimyan joined Barone and Catania Cardiovascular Group in 2018 after completing her training. Outside of practice, her hobbies include target archery and spending time with her family.
